Size: collar, 3.75″ x 14.5″.  cuffs, 3.75″ x 9.5″
Starting Price: $0.99
Auction ends: Mar 26, 2012 16:48:22 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller shotgun*wedding, MILWAUKEE, United States
Comments: Two cuffs and a matching neckpiece of Irish Crochet.  I like the openwork leaf motif along with the rose and pinwheel designs.  I’m thinking this might be a  complete set, sometimes there’s a larger dress front, but the finish on the lower edge of the neckpiece might make it standalone. Good tight stitches, very good condition.

   Sold for $20.50, 7 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/6o4z9ve Antique Honiton handmade lace handkerchief border edge
Size: 13″ x 13.25″
Starting Price: 19.99 GBP
Auction ends: Mar 27, 2012 06:47:48 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller discover4, London, United Kingdom
Comments: A Honiton handkerchief edge, center has been cut out.The lace is quite nice, well beyond slugs/snails, although you can see remnants of the more tape-like quality especially in the larger flowers.  No picots on the brides.  The piece is a bit frayed in places, especially in the one corner photo.  Hard to tell for the rest without more closeups.

Sold for 28.00 GBP, 2 bidders.

Starting Price: $199.99
Auction ends: Mar 27, 2012 07:01:20 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller gulftreasure, Sunapee, New Hampshire, United States
Comments: A Point de Gaze  handkerchief, no raised work, and fillings are kept to an essential minimum.  Nice romantic design, definitely on the high end market. The condition of the lace appears very good, I can’t see any breaks or damage from the photos. Hard to tell if there is some rust damage along the edges or if it’s just a trick of the light. Get professional help in cleaning something like this, it deserves special care.

   Sold for $199.99, 1 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/77k2bj8 Antique Honiton handmade lace very lovely long stole
Size: 24″ x 120″
Starting Price: $175.00 GBP
Auction ends: Mar 27, 2012 07:21:31 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller discover4, London, United Kingdom
Comments: A Honiton applique rectangular scarf with fairly large motifs. Nice sprig work in the ground.  Interesting set of flowers along the outer edge, the leaves are connected at the tips as they are worked so the motifs can be made all at once – no piecing. It’s a bit snails/slugs, and the large corner motifs have some more refined flowers.  A good example for the collector, and a very interesting one for the lacemaker to study technique. Seller cites a few tiny pulls in the net, and two well-done repairs. I’d put this as very good condition overall.

   No bids.

Size: not given
Starting Price: $300.00 Buy-it-Now or Make Offer
Auction ends: Mar 27, 2012 09:22:14 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller nasaunantiquecenter, nassau, NY, United States
Comments: A later 19thc Brussels Duchesse fan with MOP sticks – these show up like clockwork on Ebay. I have one in my collection. The design here is a bit thrown together, and needlelace is confined to some grids of rings and one flat motif. The guard stick has some decorative dots – unusual. No condition is discussed by the seller, but I see some staining mainly on the left side. The lace and sticks look intact from what I can see.  Seller says it comes from an American family.

Auction ends: Mar 27, 2012 ~10:22:14 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller ryphat, Paris, France
Comments: A later 19th c square mesh Valenciennes border. Very light in appearance.   Valenciennes was a pretty standard product meant to edge linens and nightclothes – this is a good example, and at 2″ wide is probably more delicate than it looks from the photos. Seems in overall very good condition, maybe a broken mesh here or there.

Starting Price: $29.99 with reserve
Auction ends: Mar 27, 2012 17:41:25 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller greatlace, Paris – Palm Beach, United States
Comments: A whitework handkerchief with Valenciennes border.  Monogrammed MT – I think It’s a ‘T’.  The embroidery contains nice jours that you often find in needlelace.  A good complex Valenciennes border – it all goes together very well.  Condition looks very good, just a few tiny holes in the cloth.

   Sold for $225.00, 1 bidder.

http://tinyurl.com/86xz334 ANTIQUE LACE EARLY VALENCIENNES C 1700 TULIPS AND WAVES FOR STUDY

Offered by: Ebay seller greatlace, Paris – Palm Beach, United States
Comments: Wish this piece were in better shape – it’s fascinating.  Mid 18th c Valenciennes, but with a fantastic design of openwork stitches. There are some needle-made brides that I think are later additions. Maybe, hard to tell.  I agree with the seller, the picot edge does look like a later addition, not an uncommon practice to ‘modernize’ older laces in the 19th c.  Someone obviously valued this interesting piece and took a lot of pains to keep it alive through the years.

   Sold for $45.00, 1 bidder.

http://tinyurl.com/7ha72s3 SUPERB LG HandMade Antique Vtg DIMENSIONAL IRISH CROCHET LACE COLLAR CAPELET

Starting Price: $29.99
Auction ends: Mar 28, 2012 18:05:17 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller adtjmd, RED VELVET BENCH, United States
Comments: A wide, deep Irish Crochet collar with large motifs and what looks like looped picots on the bridework.  Some raised work in the centers of motifs, and I like the shading effect with open stitches used as fillings. Wish there were a photo of the thing laid flat; it’s a bit hard to grasp the whole design. Looks a bit haphazard. Technique is good, but not great, although the whole works pretty well for the form.  Occasional loose thread or broken bride, some age discoloration, but overall very good condition.

   Sold for $171.18, 5 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/7hu4go8 dentelle de Bruxelles – point de gaze,
Size: 6.5 cm x 285 cm
Starting Price: 50.00 EUR
Auction ends: Mar 29, 2012 04:08:32 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller jesbysten, carces, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France
Comments: A nice looking Point de Gaze border, no raised work.I like the kind of ‘snowflake’ rosettes used, gives it a good architectural feeling with a short repeat suitable for ruffling.  Jours compliment the design nicely. The entire space is nicely filled out with motifs or esprits. A few small holes in the ground, not too serious, but difficult to repair. Rest looks in very good condition.  Haven’t seen this knowledgeable seller before.

   Sold for 139.77, 7 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/6utqt4e dentelle d’Irlande
Size: 10 cm x 140 cm
Starting Price: 8.00 EUR
Auction ends: Mar 29, 2012 05:22:30 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller jesbysten, carces, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France
Comments: A border of Irish Crochet in the ‘knotted guipure’ style, which is one of the earliest IC developments. Note the offset horseshoe motifs and the presence of the small raised rings. It points the way toward IC use as a textile in itself. Hard to date something like this, but the careful work and the rings might indicate an earlier rather than later timeframe.  Condition appears very good, although a bit too white for my tastes, might indicate bleaching. Or maybe just a trick of the photography.

Sold for 8.50 EUR, 2 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/7ufrhbv dentelle Chantilly

Starting Price: 15.00 EUR
Auction ends: Mar 29, 2012 09:01:30 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller jesbysten, carces, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France
Comments: A Chantilly hat veil that I think is handmade, but wish there were more closeup.  It has the deep front border, decorated on all 3 sides, and what looks to be an attachment at the top to thread a tie through. Seller indicates a few tiny holes, but overall very good condition.  I’ll guess Belgium.

Sold for 24.06 EUR, 3 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/6t24wzf mantille ou barbe en dentelle du Puys
Size: 84 cm x 30 cm
Starting Price: 15.00 EUR
Auction ends: Mar 29, 2012 09:27:58 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller jesbysten, carces, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France
Comments: An interesting fallcap that certainly could be Le Puy. Seems to be black silk, with long narrow leaves.  No grounded motifs that you often find in Le Puy, and no gimp, so could tip it over to the Cluny or Beds (except for the black color) or long shot Maltese.  Condition looks very good. A rather unusual form for this type of lace.

Sold for 15.50 EUR, 2 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/74y7jx4 dentelle application anglaise

Starting Price: 6.00 EUR
Auction ends: Mar 29, 2012 09:46:11 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller jesbysten, carces, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France
Comments: An border of Brussels application on machine net. A middle-market product, the motifs are not too ambitious. Meant for yardage.  Very good condition, one fault that I don’t know what to make of 13 cm from one end.

Sold for 15.50 EUR, 5 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/6vb4qgc dentelle Valencienne ancienne

Starting Price: 6.00 EUR
Auction ends: Mar 29, 2012 09:55:51 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller jesbysten, carces, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France
Comments: A simple Valenciennes border, not too long, middle market. Square mesh, later 19th c.  The picots seem a bit frayed in places, hard to tell more on the condition without more detailed photos.

Sold for 6.50 EUR, 2 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/7ja59ae eventail ancien en dentelle Duchesse de Bruxelles
Size: 22 cm long – not sure if that’s the lace or the whole folded fan.
Starting Price: 60.00 EUR
Auction ends: Mar 29, 2012 09:55:51 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller jesbysten, carces, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France
Comments: Another Duchesse de Bruxelles fan with Mother of Pearl sticks. One raised rose petal insert center, and some good jour fillings elsewhere. The lace looks in very good condition.  The MOP has been laminated onto the sticks all the way to the points – one section fallen loose.  I think that’s minor.

Sold for 151.00 EUR, 4 bidders.

Comments: A wide Chantilly collar with a dentated leaf border all around. Esprits and a trailing border in the center.  A wide, impressive piece, in very good condition.  Seller gives no notes on condition, but I don’t see any problems in the photos, maybe just a pinprick hole here or there in the mesh.

   Sold for $177.50, 3 bidders.

Comments: From what I can see these are two sections of the same length of Point de Gaze.  Note the elaborate multiple petal roses with diamond widows in the clothwork. Some fun and interesting jour fillings, and a romantic well-filled design.  Definitely a high-end work.  Condition on first piece, 2 openings in the net, small hole, and a pink stain. 2nd piece has basically no problems.

  Sold for $102.50, 8 bidders.

Offered by: Ebay seller greatlace, Paris – Palm Beach, United States
Comments: A well-defined narrow Chantilly scarf. There’s a lot of design possibilities with this form – see this month’s featured lace in the header. The thread looks quite fine and the technique impeccable. The gimp threads really stand out.  Seller cites some pinpricks, but overall very good condition.

   Sold for $374.69, 6 bidders.

Comments: A Honiton dress front, snail/slugs design with picoted bride ground.  Sometimes photographed from the backside. A few weaknesses in some motifs, but overall very good condition.  Museum de-accession.

   Not sold.

Comments: A Duchesse de Bruxelles handkerchief. Nice raised work against halfstitch background on the bobbin motifs, and the small buds are well done, almost like Rosaline. Raised petals on the roses in the Point de Gaze inserts.  Overall a nice presentation.  Very minor defects, overall very good condition.

No bids.
