Comments: Large shawl collar of Duchesse with needlelace inserts, raised petal roses. There is a net backing to the whole piece. An unusual form, if original – hard to say since there are no really good photos of the neckline.  A few pinprick holes to in the needlelace.

Comments: A new stamp issued by Switzerland on November 4, 2010. I’m bit thrown by the hooded bobbins, which are more associated with Germany. The combination of the lacemaker and woodcarver is very traditional in German folkart.
