If you would like an event listed, send an email to lacenews@gmail.com.
– Click on items in dark blue to see the LaceNews full post on an event.
– If events on the calendars are shown in light blue, it means that I’m expecting more information and the post will be updated as soon as possible.
– Items in green are those for which I have information, and am in the process of posting.
– Red items are for events that have been publicized elsewhere, but subsequently cancelled.
– Orange items means they are listed elsewhere on the internet, but without any details so I can’t do a post. I’ll leave them on the calendar until things clarify.
– Items in black mean I’m reasonably certain of the date, but don’t have enough information yet for a post. It often means that I’m waiting for a reply from the event organizers. Some events are announced weeks to months in advance, while others only have a day’s notice. Sometimes you don’t even hear about them until after they are done. Sometimes I never find enough information, so I keep it on the calendar but never do a post. People are definitely getting better at advertising events on the web as time goes on.
I keep a large EXCEL spreadsheet on all the events, which you can download for yourself. It changes rapidly, this version is dated 5/26/2015. Events_May_26_2015.

I really like the calandar idea (I use something similar both at work and boy scouts) but think you need to go further out by two or three into the year to help people with planning. Also, a country code beside the listed entry would help greatly.
Thanks for your comment. You are right I need to get more months out.At first I only wanted to post things that I’d already written about on the main blog – but I’ve backed off on that with the March calendar. I’ll work on April through June this weekend. I can always fill in the pointers to the actual posts later.
Great idea about the country code. I was trying to do this with different colors, but I don’t think it’s working out too well. I’ll definitely followup on this.
I love the lace calendar idea. I am going to France, Italy, Holland and Britain in May-June this year so will be very interested to see if there are any events on in the places I will be traveling to.
Keep up the great blog.
Is this a google calendar and if so is it available for importation?
No. The calendars are done in MS Word with a WinCalendar addon. I then make a PDF from the Word file – that’s what you actually download. The thumbnails are jpgs done with photoshop. A little messy, and if you have a better idea I’d love to hear it. I’d very much like to figure out how to get these importable.
LaceNews is on the wordpress.com site, which is more restrictive and much less expensive than the self-hosted wordpress.org option. WordPress.com does not currently offer the google calendar plugin. I’m looking into switching over to .org, it offers a lot more features; it will all depend on the cost.
thanks for the info. saw the notice in local free Roxbury township newspaper.
Hi great reading yourr blog
