Comments: I’m fascinated by this thing. It does look like a lacemaker, but the pillow is gone. Very tall, 1.42 meters high. The seller says it belonged to her grandparents, who lived in Normandy.

Comments: Bertha of Duchess or Brugges with Point de Gaze inserts.  The raised roses aren’t very interesting, but the various needlelace fillings are. Interesting half stitch shading in the leaves. Looks in very good condition.

Comments: These are the hands of the extraordinary lacemaker Mme Guimard, who taught me in Alençon. We will be using this hand position when I teach my Alençon class at the 2012 IOLI convention (what I call the ‘continental’ position -no backsliding into the ‘English’ position allowed). Santucci made two of these medals – this one with various handicrafts represented on the back, and a silver colored one with Alençon lace on the back.
