Comments: A long, narrow Honiton collar. Slugs/snails design elements with extensive tally fillings throughout. Lots of raised work in the leaves and flowers, and bobbin-made plain brides. The design is a bit scattered, but overall quite effective. Seller cites a few minor pulls, mostly very good condition.

Comments: Irish crochet collar with deep points.Small tightly worked motifs with raised ring center. Those might be Clones knots on the brides, not enough closeups to tell.  Whole thing looks a bit shrunken, maybe washed at some point.  Might be blocked back into shape.  Few broken brides, nothing serious.

Comments: The photo is not good and there are no details. But looking from afar, I see Reticella rosettes, good filet insertion and cutwork embroidery squares. Probably a late 19th-early 20th c piece, much cut down. Just wish I could get a closer look at the Reticella, it looks interesting. The triangular elements in the rosettes might be Cyprus.  Condition OK, but modified.

Comments: A French Provencal lacemaker’s measure, with extensive cutouts and chip carving. dated 1893. An aune or ell, was was used to measure cloth and defined as 120 cm.  So a demi-aune is 60 cm.  All the lacemaker ones I’ve seen are more like 50 cm. – there’s a mystery here that bears investigation.  This one has great carving and decoration, and looks in good condition. Buyer beware, fakes are common, but this one has a good look. Takes a real expert to say for sure.  I also show a postcard so you can get an idea of how they were used.  French seller, I’ve written to ask if they will sell outside of France.

Comments: These are two separate offerings from the same seller. I thought I’d put them together since they are both Brussels Duchesse cuffs.  Fairly rare for cuffs to survive in this good condition, together. The designs and work are a bit conventional, but condition is very good on both sets. By the way, the $2.00 bill was re-introduced in 1976 and was reprinted several times since then. It’s worth $2.00.  Seller has a similar small collar as #160728516915.

Comments: A mantilla shaped peice, but I don’t think this is Maltese. I will take the description as silk as given. I think it’s either a French or Russian piece – work needs to be done on identifying this genre. See http://tinyurl.com/7lsbulm for an example of similar Russian work Note the little hook-shaped motifs surrounded by leaves on the outer edge – no gimp – you see this in many similar pieces. A few stains, but overall condition is very good.
