Auction ends: 1 day 23 hours from 4/19/12, 18:39 MST
Offered by: Ebay seller antiquer41, CLINTON, NY, United States
Comments: A Chantilly fan – I’ll take as a mark of handmade the little loops on the insides of some of the small circle. Almost Honeycomb, but this is the only place you find it. Wish there were some closeups of the edges. Seems to date from at least 1888, and has the original box (not shown). From the Overlook Mansion estate in Little Falls, NY. It has a roughly symmetric design right and left, and looks to be in very good condition. I don’t see any problems with the lace itself.

   Unsold as of 4/23/12

http://tinyurl.com/7zxoc7m ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MALTESE SILK LACE COLLAR & HANDKERCHIEF
Size: Hanky: ~11″ square, Collar: neck 16″ across back edge to edge, 13″
Starting Price: 14.99 GBP
Auction ends: Apr 22, 2012 11:23:15 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller lacisfair, Surrey, United Kingdom
Comments: A Maltese collar and handkerchief.  The collar is the better piece, good guipure flowers, and an interesting lattice ground with woven leaf crosses. The hankie depends a lot on grids of leaf tallies, and a rather conventional Maltese cross border. The crosses seem to have the same leaf tally fillings between their points in the two pieces – could indicate the same manufacturer. Not enough photos to get a really good idea of condition, but from a distance they look quite good.  Maybe a loose spot here and there, nothing serious. Seller notes a little wear to the silk center of the handkerchief.

Sold for 28.01 GBP, 4 bidders.

Size: 4-3/4″ widest width, 24″ neckline, 36.25″ outer edge
Starting Price: $24.99
Auction ends: Apr 22, 2012 18:20:45 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller adtjmd, RED VELVET BENCH, United States
Comments: A Point de Gaze collar, no raised work. This is a higher end piece with beautiful fillings and a connected picot edge around the outside. The petal that is normally raised in Point de Gaze sometimes has a little different stitch. it’s not the most exuberant piece of this type of work, but quite nice, and in very good condition. Seller notes age discoloration and rare, minor loose threads.

   Sold for $102.50, 11 bidders.

Size: 15.5″ square
Starting Price: $12.99
Auction ends: Apr 22, 2012 20:15:11 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller adtjmd, RED VELVET BENCH, United States
Comments: A Honiton handkerchief with ~rectangular picoted bride ground. Nice joins where the meshes meet. Snails/slugs era, a nice attempt but comes off a little primitive. Interesting way the lacemaker did the fern leaves with the doubled back tape. I see a few holes where brides have broken, seller cites age discoloration.

   Sold for $35.99, 4 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/6oc548v Antique Honiton handmade lace large handkerchief flowers & thistles
Size: 15.5″ x 16″
Starting Price: 24.99 GBP
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 08:48:28 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller discover4, London, United Kingdom
Comments: A Honiton handkerchief, still basically snails/slugs but more ambitious than the previous example. The flowers along the inner border are nicely worked, with rather conventional stylized flowers along the edge. All work is quite tight and well executed. A few holes where brides have broken, nothing serious. Overall good condition.

Sold for 24.99 GBP, 1 bidder.

http://tinyurl.com/6szl5a2 Antique Irish crochet handmade lovely large collar
Size: 20″ neck edge, 9″ center back width, 8.25″ front points width
Starting Price: 39.99 GBP
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 08:58:26 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller discover4, London, United Kingdom
Comments: An Irish Crochet collar with interesting motifs, some raised work. There’s a right-left symmetry, but the center back seems a little disjoint in design. The motifs are tightly worked, and I like the openwork fillings.  Irregular but still square bride ground, with a few fan elements like ‘lifted guipure’ Crocheted picots, not Clones knots. Might be a few loose mesh stitches, but overall seems in very good condition.

   No bids.

Size: 2″ x 20″ and 41″
Starting Price: 29.99 GBP
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 10:26:39 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller discover4, London, United Kingdom
Comments: Mid 18th c Alençon border with réseau ground and wave-like design. The work is a little plain and the fillings don’t vary much. But it is in very good condition, which is unusual for a piece of this age.

Sold for 29.99 GBP, 1 bidder.

http://tinyurl.com/866be94 Antique Brussels Point de Gaze handmade lace 2 lovely lengths
Size: ~3.5″ x 40″ each
Starting Price: 69.99 GBP
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 10:51:22 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller discover4, London, United Kingdom
Comments: 2 Point de Gaze lengths of the same design, no raised work. The clothwork includes a few stitch variations that normally aren’t used in this lace, especially along the leaves on the lower edge. Overall this depends on the short, vertical repeat for effect, which is nicely designed. It has a very light effect, even for Point de Gaze.  A few pinholes and pulls in the mesh, but overall very good condition, except for having been cut in half..

   Sold for 69.99, 1 bidder.

http://tinyurl.com/6qk5ea9 Antique Brussels lace with Point de Gaze inserts very lovely collar
Size: 23″ neck edge, lappet ends 13.5″, 3.75″ center back width
Starting Price: 59.99 GBP
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 11:10:43 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller discover4, London, United Kingdom
Comments: A Duchesse de Bruxelles collar with lappet ends. Point de Gaze roses with pointed end raised petals are included directly in the design, not confined to grounded inserts as usually seen. There are a few needlelace inserts, no raised work. Bobbin work is well done, but overall the whole piece has a bit of a shrunken look, maybe washed? A few broken brides, but overall good condition.

Sold for 85.00 GBP, 3 bidder.

Size: 87 cm long when open, 22 cm wide
Starting Price: 28.00 EUR
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 11:36:19 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller barrioux, SERMENTIZON, Auvergne, France
Comments: This bobbin winder is from the Haute Loire region, and is very well made. It does seem to have lost the ‘windmill’ vanes – the back arm pulls out to accommodate their rotation. The arm is in a quite unusual horseshoe shape, nicely carved.  Seems to be in good working order.

Sold for 88.00 EUR, 7 bidders.

Starting Price: $45.00 with reserve
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 11:45:47 PDT
Offered by: Maria Niforos, Ebay seller mithya, London-New York, United States
Comments: A Brussels Duchesse fan leaf with one flat Point de Gaze inserts. A well-made piece – but I wonder why they did only one needlelace insert.  Pretty good left-right symmetry with a mass of flowers in the middle. Very good condition, I don’t see any problems from the photos.

   No bids.

Starting Price: 16.00 GBP
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 12:54:07 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller smugersmith, Ashbourne,, Derbyshire, United Kingdom
Comments: Seems to be a rounded end lappet scarf of silk Maltese. Not many closeups, but it’s a standard design of Maltese crosses, with some interesting flowers around the edges. Looks in good condition from what I can see.

Sold for 33.50 GBP, 4 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/87p89an ANTIQUE LACE- FINE MECHLIN LACE
Size: 2.5″ x 109″
Starting Price: $45.00 with reserve
Auction ends: Apr 23, 2012 18:17:36 PDT
Offered by: Maria Niforos, Ebay seller mithya, London-New York, United States
Comments: A Mechlin edging of exceptional work. Seller has provenance. Note the areas of half stitch in the design, sign of a later 19th c piece. At 2.5″ wide, it is even finer than it looks. I don’t see any condition issues from the photos.

   Sold for $420.99, 5 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/7u6uttn Beautiful bobbin lace cuffs in excellent condition, very fine lace
Size: 4.5″ x 14″ each
Starting Price: $19.99
Auction ends: Apr 24, 2012 11:12:54 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller calicogre, Ottawa, ON, Canada
Comments: Two cuffs of a rather indeterminate guipure. Could be Beds, although the design seems a bit heavy. That might be the result of washing or wear, but I’ll go with it for lack of other ideas.  Symmetric design, quite well made.  A few loose brides, nothing serious.

   No bids.

http://tinyurl.com/7paqbnk ANTIQUE SUPERB BRUSSELS LACE EXQUISITE LAPPET SCARF
Size: ~4.5″ x ~53″
Starting Price: $149.99 Buy-it-Now
Auction ends: 4 d 8h from 4/19/12 21:13 MST
Offered by: Ebay seller **bliss**, Woodbury, NJ, United States
Comments: This is a really nice Bruges Duchesse narrow rectangular scarf, with a few elements I haven’t seen before. I call it Bruges because the bobbin motifs are so precise, and have a heavy thread gimp.  Note the needlelace medallion on top of a halfstitch oval, very effective.  I don’t know how they made the picoted bar ground in the center inserts, I suppose bobbin made.  The quality of the bobbinlace is excellent.  The overall condition looks very good, seller only  notes a few small marks and stains.

Sold for $99.00, I assume on offer.
