Comments: A good example of the Torchon Lace Company’s Princess Lace Machine, patented in 1903. This much hyped, but not very practical equipment was just about the only commercial bobbinlace equipment available in the USA in the first quarter of the 20th c. It looks original with the typical green patterned cover.  One pattern is mounted on the roller, but it doesn’t seem to have any bobbins, literature, or the rare wooden packing case that you sometimes see.  It is only slightly worn, and overall good condition.

Comments: An interesting fan with a leaf of Brussels application non machine net. Good lace design – it almost looks like there is room for a monogram at the center.  Bobbin motifs are small and well done. The sticks are heavily pierced and carved, but damaged. Maybe a bit frayed along the top edge of the lace, but overall good condition. I don’t see any obvious defects. The elaborate sticks do seem to overwhelm the lace a bit, but that’s just my opinion.

Comments: A better quality Duchesse de Bruxelles fan with mother of perl sticks and bone ‘slips’ (I’ve been studying handfan collecting terminology http://tinyurl.com/7ergzp3).  This arrangement of lace with MOP is very common, and you don’t often fine very good examples. I like this one a lot – note the pointed raised petal roses in the point de gaze insert – sign of a better manufacturer. The lace looks in very good condition, and it comes with the original box. Seller notes a few defects to the ribs.

Comments: Later 19th, early 20th c figural Mechlin handkerchief. Nice little deer in the corners, and the attachment to the center cloth is done with a lot of care. Assuming the 8.5″ is along one side of the piece, this is quite a small hanky, and the lace is probably more delicate than it looks in the photos.Good careful work, and the condition looks very good.
