Comments: There is only one photo of this piece, but it looks like an interesting Le Puy deep flounce to me. Plaited star ground, good guipure work, note the motifs in the small circular inserts, and long plaited leaves.  The design has a nice effect. No notes on condition, but do I see a small hole about 1/3rd of the way from the left? Otherwise looks good, but hard to tell without more pictures.  The seller is offering several other Le Puy pieces.

Comments: A finely worked flat Point de Gaze handkerchief. Not much variety in the mode fillings, other than the heavily padding rings, which are very effective against the tiny floral motifs.  It has a kind of architectural symmetry, and note how the lace effectively overlaps the central cloth. Seller notes a few ‘runs’ and stains in the cloth, one small repair to the lace. Otherwise very good condition.

Comments: Unfortunately in 2 pieces. This Venise-type lace is beautiful in design and technique. Given the types of mode fillings used, I’m calling it Belgian, perhaps a Zele-type lace.  A closer look at the relief could help – if buttonholed close together, it’s probably French. Spaced buttonholes, probably twisted, would be Belgian. I also think it’s too light in design to be Austrian. The condition looks unused.

Comments: A nice contrast with the earlier Valenciennes piece – this one, while still 19th century, is much more finely worked. Wish there were some closeups.  Note the ‘line drawn’ pattern which nicely delineates the design. One obvious stain in the photos, seller indicates there are more, and some fraying along the top edge.
