Size: 9″ square
Starting Price: 10.99 GBP
Auction ends: Oct 08, 2012 08:33:18 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller kimsucadi, Wokingham, Berkshire, United Kingdom
Comments: A Maltese handkerchief,a little small, rather typical pattern. Roundels on the outside, a Maltese cross/woven leave border inside.  Condition looks very good, but there’s only one photo so hard to make a complete assessment. This seller has listed some very nice Maltese in the past.

Sold for 4.99 GBP, 1 bidder.

Size: ~23″ square
Starting Price: $29.99
Auction ends: Oct 08, 2012 11:27:14 PDT
Offered by: Maria Niforos, Ebay seller mithya, London-New York, United States
Comments: Either a very large handkerchief, or a small table linen of some kind. The lace seems to be a better quality Bruges, maybe even a Ghent pieced lace – although the thread looks a bit heavy. the design is a bit crowded and I can’t spot much symmetry, but overall it has a bold appearance. Some tears to the central cloth, but the lace looks good. Seller indicates that it needs a good wash.

   Sold for $29.99, 1 bidder.

http://tinyurl.com/8toqqkx large bobbin lace collar in very nice condition
Size: 36″ neck edge to neck edge (don’t know what that means), 5″ wide
Starting Price: 9.99 GBP
Auction ends: Oct 08, 2012 12:16:12 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller harpette54, Wells, Somerset, United Kingdom
Comments:A Bruges Bloemwerk collar with two different workings of picoted brides. Typical rose and leaf design with ‘islands’ where some brides meet – all typical Bloemwerk characteristics. The pieces is rather wrinkled, but I don’t see any obvious damage to the lace.

Sold for 12.50 GBP, 2 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/8z5ghe7 INTAGE LACE HANKERCHIEF BEAUTIFUL FOR A WEDDING OR GIFT FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Size: 12″ square
Starting Price: $9.99
Auction ends: Oct 08, 2012 12:34:32 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller kate_michaels_collections, La Jolla, California, United Staets
Comments: It certainly is possible this is a Kenmare needlelace piece, but unfortunately we don’t have a definitive technical description for identification. I do like the edge, it resembles Irish crochet finishings. It is well made, the lace is in very good condition. I jut wish there were better closeups for the raised edges – a wider spacing on the buttonhole stitch would tend more toward Belgium.

   Sold for $159.50, 6 bidders.

Size: ~34-35″
Starting Price: $395.00
Auction ends: Oct 08, 2012 18:25:37 PDT
Offered by: Maria Niforos, Ebay seller mithya, London-New York, United States
Comments:  A monogrammed table linen with a Brussels Duchesse border. The point de gaze roses appear to have raised petals, and the Duchesse bobbinlace has some nice raised work on halfstitch background.  A good design but rather conventional – I think it’s a later peices. A few minor problems in the central cloth, but the lace appears in very good condition.

Comments:  A a demi-aune, a measuring stick used by French lacemakers in the Auvergne area to measure their product. An aune or ell was a cloth measure of 120 cm. This was one of the measurement systems introduced by Napoleon I in 1812 to serve as a bridge to between traditional measurements and the metric system.  There were several measures introduced, called the ‘mesures usuelles’, and could be used by small retail businesses. The custom was revoked effectively in 1840. That brings to question whether measures like this date before 1840, I don’t know the answer to that question. Some come up for sale that are actually 50 cm long, which would probably date them to the later use of the metric system, and you see women using them in early 20th century postcards. So this one at ~60 cm, and elaborately carved, could be an earlier example. Or a later copy.

Starting Price: 9.99 GBP

Offered by: Ebay seller baraud, Newton Abbot, United Kingdom
Comments:  A fragment of a Brabant mid 18th century border. Wish there were more. These could come in quite large sizes, but the designs were a little less refined than those of the major Brussels and Ghent centers. This one is in very good condition, a nice sample.

Sold for 27.00 GBP, 4 bidders.

Offered by: Ebay seller heshlynn, Ravena, NY, United States
Comments:  A Maltese headcover of a mantilla variation form. The center form is constructed of several parallel strips, one of which extends into the lappets. An alternating design of roundels goes around the entire edge. A bold looking piece.  I see a few loose seams, one hole at a top point. Basically good condition.

   Sold for $88.00, 4 bidders.

Auction ends: Oct 10, 2012 08:51:19 PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller cruzando_el_puente, Jaen, Andalucia Ceuta y Melilla, Spain
Comments:  A long Brussels bobbinlace application on machine net. 8″ width is a good medium sized width. The design is not very complex, swags with some filling flower sprays, no esprit pattern in the upper net. A good middle market product. The tulle net looks in good condition from the photos, maybe a little rough along the top edge. But overall it looks in good condition, hard to tell completely without more closeups.  See also this sellers listing for #180971232313, another Brussels Application.

   Unsold.

Comments:  An elaborate crinoline flounce, Brussels bobbinlace application on machine net. A beautiful naturalistic design with small, well-made motifs. A definite higher end market piece. The condition looks good, although the one single image has some rough spots in the net. Hard to tell on the rest – it’s quite long and the photos and description are not too detailed.

http://tinyurl.com/95lgvcn RARE ANTIQUE 1740 BRUSSELS LACE Point d’Angleterre Cravate/Lappet. SUPERB
Size:  10.5″ x 168″
Starting Price: 175.00 GBP

Offered by: Ebay seller fairietree, Hampshire Village Life, United Kingdom
Comments:  A later 19th century lappet ended scarf of Brussels bobbinlace application on machine net. It has a few needlelace rings used as fillings and esprit in the tulle ground. The design is a bit unusual, fairly naturalistic, but the motifs aren’t quite as crisp as they could be. Note that the net behind the motifs hasn’t been cut away as it would be in a higher quality piece. Condition of the tulle net is everything in a piece like this, and I see a few tiny holes, not very serious.

Comments:  Interesting form to this Irish Crochet dress front. High relief motifs all nicely designed to fit the form. The ground is interesting, with some clusters of double stitch relief. Seller cites a few missing stamens to some flowers, and some minor breaks. The peice has been laundered. Overall good condition.
