Comments: I’m thinking this is a Burano set from the appearances of the clothwork stitches. There may also have been some kind of frontpiece or dress insert to attach to the longer choker collar. The raised edges on the motifs are quite elaborate and nicely done. These later 19th c copies of Gros Point were done in several places, including England, Austria, Belgium and Italy. Not always easy to tell them apart. This set is in very good condition but with some brown staining which should come out with an appropriately conservative wash.

Comments: This piece is on the German version of Ebay. It’s a good older Klöppelstand – the pillow and some bobbins are part of another auction – they look newer. The piece is at least 40 years old according to the seller, and looks in good shape. It does have a lidded box behind the piece with the nameplate (no name, however).

Comments: I don’t think this was intended as a handkerchief – it’s too nice in the center. It is a muslin applique on machine net, quite elaborate with some relief embroidery. The motifs are fastened with chain stitch which might indicate Belgium, but it’s more delicately done than the larger veils one usually sees. Also note the nice circular esprits in the ground. An interesting piece in very good condition, although from the photos I’m not entirely sure what the color is.

Comments: A very collectible wide, long Brussels bobbinlace application on machine net – a true crinoline flounce.  It’s not the very highest quality design, but not much below and definitely aimed at the high end market. Needlelace fillings are limited to a few rings.  The condition from the photos looks very good, which in itself is quite unusual for this kind of lace. Seller notes a few small breaks and repairs and age discoloration, minor in a piece like this.
