Comments: This is one of those odd pieces where Bucks has been cut up and appliqued on machine net. Several of these have come up on Ebay recently.  It takes a lot of nerve to do this, and most of the closeups have been taken from the back of the piece, so it’s hard to see exactly how the cut edges are secured. The n et is nice and supple, much like the kind used for Honiton applique. I’m thinking that the piece at the bottom edge might be intact, although there’s a separate picot edge added to finish it. Seller cites small holes in the net and some repairs, basically good condition.

There are numerous small holes and repairs in the net, so I’ll call it a bit short of good on condition in these areas, and you can probably areas that are much better since this is such a long length. The design is romantic, note the sprigs used as esprits in the upper ground. Note also the good work on needlelace fillings.

Comments: A Duchesse fan, no needlelace inserts, with imitation blonde tortoiseshell sticks. Note the silver and diamond monogram on the guard stick. I’ve seen two others of these come up in the past two years. The lace is well done, fairly conventional design, with raised work in the flowers and connecting bands.  The design is a bit crowded for my taste, but it earns a lot for very good condition. I don’t see any problems in the photos, and the seller doesn’t have any condition notes. Also note the original tassel.
