Comments: A tape lace, looks Italian, but a little off in technique for Milano. Note the heavy gimp which is atypical, and the short picoted brides, which you do sometimes find. The way the cloth decoration and fillings are handled all speak to a possibly later piece, perhaps 19th c?  This one is a mystery, but indications do point to Italy.  It is rather soiled with general wear and repair, basically good condition. Very interesting.

Comments: A Chantilly fan with black wood sticks, elaborately carved, one broken. The lace is impressive with well defined cartouches. The condition of the lace is generally very good, no doubt helped by the cream silk mount.  Silk background against silk lace, not too bad for long term stability. Still, it helps to maintain temperature and humidity stability.

Comments: An interesting caplet of Honiton Point lace, meaning honiton motifs with a needle-made ground. Seller says ‘acquired from the MET’, probably a de-accession.  Snails/slugs esthetic, actually quite well executed, motifs quite crisp.. Honiton Point is a later lace, end of the 19th c. A variety of good tally fillings. The design is fairy scattered, the English Flower Garden concept.  I can’t see the details of the collar attachment, so am not sure if anything is cut. But basically is looks in very good condition from the photos.

Comments: In the mid 19th century France went through a plaited lace revival that ultimately led to modern Cluny laces. One of the marks of these laces is the woven vertical divisions, resembling the original reticella cutwork cloth remnants. This one is a bit worn, the work is not entirely tight, and there are a few spots. Generally good condition.
