More than 1,000 participants are expected at this event, making it one of the largest in Spain. This is part of the “Festes de Maig” in Badalona. This year marks the 75th ‘Burning of the Devil’, part of the festivities. It reminds me of our own burning of Zozobra, part of the Fiesta de Santa Fe, which has been held every Autumn in New Mexico for the past 301 years.

May 1st is the Día del Trabajador, Labor Day, a national holiday in Spain. It is also part of the Festa Major de la Santa Creu in Cabrils which runs fro April 25th to May 4th.
Attendance at this event is generally greater than 350. In 2011 I found mention of an Escola Puntaires Cabrils, who, if they still exist, are probably organizing this event.
