Comments: A very good Youghal handkerchief. Motifs are quite interesting with varied stitches even in the leaves. I like the little trellis like filling just to the left of center on the third photo down.  This piece has some damage to the lightest ground stitch. Seller also cites some spots and a hole in the material.

Comments: An interesting set to have survived together. There’s not enough closeups to get a really good look at the mesh, and a very fine motif Brussels applique on droschel would be my second guess. I’d love it if they are Lille, but somehow I’d expect a slightly coarser linen ground.  Anyway, the lappets are great – I can’t see a center join which might indicate a later date. These all have been cared for with good repairs – just a few minor holes now.

Comments: A good single-piece lappet set of Valenciennes, 2nd half 19th century. Condition looks very good, I can’t see anything serious from the photos. There is no ombre shading, and the motifs aren’t the most sophisticated. But as a shaped piece of Val it’s unusual and works very well.
