Comments: The closeup isn’t very detailed, I almost wonder if this is Mechlin. It’s a good design of thin flowers and budgs in the ground – not unknown in either Lille or Mechlin. The condition is a little rough, 2 joins, one stain that I can see, and a few holes. But it’s a rare lace.

Comments: An interesting Honiton collar. Wish it had been laid flat for the photo.  The roses are quite large, anda there are some interesting leaves with a half-stitch surround.  Work looks very good. It is a ‘point’ Honiton, with a needlelace ground. Seller cites some yellowing, but overall it looks very good.

Comments: This is a typical width for Chantilly, and the length is no surprise either. The design is quite delicate and a bit thin, but it fills the space well. Condition appears good – one might spot a few small holes especially along the racroc join at the top, and perhaps a repair. Nothing major.

Comments: A Honiton handkerchief with some interesting spiral shaped flowers. Comments: This certainly could be a Carrickmacross guipure.  The beaded upper edge, and the long picots on the bottom edge are not typical, but not unknown.  It is an impressive design. It derives from Bruges motifs, with a needlelace ground in selected areas.  Quite an impressive presentation, and the condition appears excellent. Often this kind of lace is not well done, and is extensively  used for heavier table linens.

Comments: I wrote to the seller to see if there is any documentation backing up the Lepoglava attribution – no, but she certainly called it right! See the video at http://www.youtube.com/user/lacenews#p/c/B11A3BE0763B23AF/10/-yQS_r26cxQ, there is at least one piece shown with the same elements as these. I especially like the ground. We don’t see this lace very often, or if we do, it goes largely unrecognized.  The condition is excellent.
