Comments: An Irish Crochet Point (meaning the ground is needle-made) large doily. The motifs are a geometric style with a good variety of forms. It still retains some elements of the three-lobed sprays you so often see in IC, and the center motif has 5 lobes. Raised work on the roses. The work isn’t completely tight – I think it’s a later piece, maybe early 20th c.

Comments: A set of 4 placemats and one runner of rather elaborate bobbin tape lace with bird figures. It’s not really familiar, but I”m guessing an Italian takeoff on Milanese lace. It’s a curious combination – the openwork parts of the tape are very loosely done, while the clothwork in the figures is very tight.  Quite an interesting set.

Comments: Probably Brugge Bloemwerk border, fairly deep, very collectible length. The design is a short repeat of leaves and simple flowers with a few simple fillings in flower centers and along the outside edge.  Raised work of rolled edges, picoted plaited brides. Nicely done clothwork with some half-stitch shading.  I find it a little plain with the large areas of undecorated clothwork.
Condition: Modifications:  One end cut, not sure about the other end.
Damage:  Seller cites a few small areas of damage, I can’t see them in the photos.
Soilage:  Seller calls it a soft old white color, and says it has been washed by a previous owner.

Comments: An Irish Crochet dress front.  Small, fairly tightly worked motifs with lots of raised work. Mesh looks like it has crocheted loops for picots.  I like the scattered design, with just enough symmetry on the outer edge to contain the design within.
