I’m starting a new category on lace-related social media news, and I thought a good way to begin would be to do a Twitter search for hashtags related to lace. If you don’t know what a hashtag is, or what Twitter is, get yourself an account on http://twitter.com. The ‘hashtag’ is any term preceded by a ‘#’ included in a tweet. The word can be anything. There is a search function in Twitter, so if I search on the term “lace” I will get a rather unorganized list of tweets with that word, which may or may not be what I want. But by including #lace in your tweet, you can tell the world that you talking specifically about lace, and then searching on the term “#lace” will get a better list (hopefully).
Here are a few general lace-related hashtags I’ve found people using, and hopefully readers can add to the list or create their own. For example, there is a #IOLI, but it has nothing to do with lace. It could if people would use it in that context in their tweets.
For the moment I’m looking for general information hashtags, not ones that are obviously advertisements:
#tatting April 1st is International Tatting Day
I’ll be adding #LaceNews just after this gets posted.
