Bobbin Lacemaking Summer School, Pompi Parry, tutor

Venue:  The Ammerdown Centre
Ammerdown Park, Radstock, Somerset England BA3 5SW
Only 12 miles from Bath.

A week of ‘lace indulgence’ which includes displays and more; held in a well appointed conference centre set in the beautiful grounds of an 18th century manor house which is still a family home.

This will be primarily a practial course teaching various lacemaking techniques, but displays, publications and discussion will be used to widen the lacemakers’ knowledge of both historical laces and current trends. Students are also welcome to work on their own projects. The Summer School is suitable for students of all levels of experience, including complete beginners.  Students will provide their own lacemaking equipment, however this can be provided for beginners by prior arrangement.  Costs, terms and conditions are given on the website.

Pompi has been  teaching lacemaking for over 30 years, and offers a wide range of traditional and contemporary techniques. Two of her specialties are Downton Lace and Silk Polychrome Blonde from Normandy, France. She teaches many other styles of lace, though not Honiton, Withof or Duchesse.

    That was a surprise to see this in my mail box as that is me in the picture and my lace. Margaret Tite gave me a photocopy of a parchment and so wanted to see what I made of it. Sadly not going to Ammerdown this year as cannot walk that far at the moment but you will have a good week away with Pompi and the girls. xx

      I didn’t realize it was you, I thought it was Poppy! My apologies. It’s such a nice photo, but I will take it down if you like. Unfortunately I got ahold of last year’s website initially, which had the photo. Poppy then corrected me and I got the correct website, which had all the most recent information.
      Just let me know what you want to do,
