The Wolds Lacemakers are a very friendly and extremely active group, including bobbin and needlelace, knitted, tatted or crochet lace. They are based at the southern end of the Yorkshire Wolds, in the area around Hull, with a membership of around 60.
The group formed back in 1985, and March 2010 saw their 25th Annual General Meeting! Founder Maureen Bromley states: “It only seems like 5 minutes since the Society was set up. We are now looking forward to our 30th year of Lacemaking!”
Meetings are held 4 times a year (January, March, May and November) at The Marist Hall, Church and Parish House, Kingston-upon-Hull. The AGM is at the March meeting. An Annual Lace Day is held in September in Cottingham Road Baptist Church Hall. Wolds demonstrators can frequently be found at various other events throughout East Yorkshire.
They publish a newsletter four times a year, March, June, September, and December.
Annual membership is £7.00. See their website for further details.
