http://tinyurl.com/oa7s255 Antique/vintage Carrickmacross lace bow
Size: Not given
Starting Price: 8.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 10:52 AM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller derbeatle, Cheltenham, United Kingdom
Comments: An ornamental bow, probably for a neckpiece of Carrickmacross guipure. I’m posting this one because of the single pointed picots rather than the more typical loops. This is a sign of a more ambitious manufacturer, and also note the needle-made ‘spray’ fillings used elsewhere.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  Later 19th C.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Work coming away from the edges in several places.  General wear and fraying.
Soilage: Some light brown staining.
Finish: A bit wrinkled.

331641739811   Sold for 800 GBP, 1 bidder.

http://tinyurl.com/nzdvh38 Antique hand worked white Vologda Russian bobbin lace tablecloth
Size: 36″ square
Starting Price: 20.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 11:25 AM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller linen-cupboard, Crawcrook, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
Comments: A small table cover of tape lace with woven leaf fillings. I hesitate to call it Vologda (although possible)_ due to the lack of the central raised gimp. This could have been made in Italy, or in an Eastern European setting like Hungary.  Like the whole class of ‘unknown guipures’, this kind of tape lace is not easy to attribute.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  Early 20th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: Horizontal and vertical fold creases.

400986133258   Sold for 47.00 GBP, 4 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/ppjgly6 A Fabulous Long Length of Antique Honiton Bridal lace
Size: 38 cm x 450 cm
Starting Price: 72.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 11:40 AM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller winterwonderlandfairy, london, United Kingdom
Comments: A long, wide border of Honiton applique on machine net. Snails/slugs style with a short repeat, and large sprigs used as ‘esprits.  Woven tally leadworks, mostly leaves.  This is a large middle-market piece, not a very refined design. Although the motifs themselves are a bit unusual for this type of lace.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  Late 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: Can’t see the ends to tell if they are cut.
Damage: Scattered small holes and pinholes in the tulle, and I think there’s an occasional repair. One small area of net replacement, might be original.
Soilage: Occasional small red spot, mostly clean.
Finish: Some soft creasing.

351499610012   Sold for 122.00 GBP, 3 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/puholn5 TWO VICTORIAN HAND MADE BEDFORDSHIRE LACE COLLARS & A SMALL TIE
Size: 30.5″ x 7″ – 30.5″ x 3″, 27″ x 2.75″
Starting Price: 32.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 12:12 PM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller garden*hill, Reading, United Kingdom
Comments: Three Beds collars that have the look of the Armstrong designs of the early 20th c. The top one is a typical design with a separate middle piece bordered on the bottom and top with two different widths of Beds.  The bottom is all one piee.  The enter one is unusual, I especially like the border picot treatment. The end motif is almost a fleur-de-lis with some raised tally work.  Nice grouping.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  Early 20th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Occasional broken thread, minor.
Soilage: Top and bottom pieces look fairly clean, middle one is yellowed.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkles.

191678019579   Sold for 36.00 GBP, 2 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/qxqlhl2 A 2.70 METRE VICTORIAN HAND MADE CHANTILLY LACE FLOUNCE – 22″ (56cm) Deep
Size: 55 cm x 2.7 meters
Starting Price: 60.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 12:21 PM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller garden*hill, Reading, United Kingdom
Comments: A deep, long Chantilly flounce. The pattern is very dense, and the deep black appearance of the thread probably indicates Belgian work.  There is a narrower border at the top used as an engrelure. The very plain top section is an interesting contrast with the heavy lower border. I’d say it was made in 4 strips, you can just make out the racroc lines.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  3rd quarter 19th c. Maybe a little later given the lack of esprits.
Condition:
Modifications: Cut both ends.
Damage: Some small holes and pinholes, also looks like there’s been some repairs to the mesh. Occasional separation from the upper ‘engrelure’ border.
Soilage: Looks clean but hard to tell with black lace.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkles.

191677953302   Unsold.

http://tinyurl.com/q2yzuu6 A BEAUTIFUL UNUSED VICTORIAN SILK MALTESE LACE SHAWL COLLAR

Starting Price: 22.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 12:28 PM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller garden*hill, Reading, United Kingdom
Comments: A deep round collar of Maltese.  Four concentric layers, alternating crosses and woven leaf mats on the outside. Excellent leaf and 4-leaf clover guipure against a mat ground next, then radiating wheat ears. The neckline is simple woven leaf crosses.  Excellent work.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  Early to mid 20th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: Looks like there are some soft vertical fold creases.  Looks unused.

Starting Price: 25.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 12:46 PM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller garden*hill, Reading, United Kingdom
Comments: A short section of a Louis XV style Mechlin border. The quatrefoil fillings are fairly elaborate, contrasted with a more simple plaited filling. Excellent design and technique.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  3rd quarter 18th c.
Condition:
Modifications: Cut both ends.
Damage: Scattered minor pinholes in the mesh. Some of the quatrefoil filling areas have been repaired.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkled.

Starting Price: 30.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 1:06 PM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller garden*hill, Reading, United Kingdom
Comments: A lappet scarf of Duchesse de Bruxelles, although it’s more like a narrow collar. No raised work in the Point de Gaze inserts. No raised work in the Point de Gaze inserts. Some good raised bobbin work on the strapwork, and there is some interesting pattern work on the leaves. And interesting and elegant piece.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  3rd quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Seller notes some light spotting.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkles.

Size: 13.5″ square
Starting Price: 15.00 GBP
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 1:17 PM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller garden*hill, Reading, United Kingdom
Comments: A Honiton guipure handkerchief. Snails/slugs style, quite a dense design, nicely done. Small woven leadwork tallies.  Good example of the type.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  3rd quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: Slight wrinkling.  I wonder i the center cloth has been replaced since there are no fold lines, but it also could be unused.

191677054111   Sold for 31.00 GBP, 4 bidders.

http://tinyurl.com/p6oanpw Antique Handmade Brussels Point de Gaze Duchesse Bertha Lace Collar Ruffled Flou
Size: 37″ neckline, 83″ bottom edge, 6″ deep
Starting Price: $246.00 Buy-it-Now
Auction ends: September 6, 2015 1:28 PM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller twist-in-time, Keller, Texas, United States
Comments: A Brussels Duchesse bertha with raised petal roses in the Point de Gaze inserts. Note the diamond windows in the raised petals, which is a little unusual. All the motifs appear a little large in scale, even the needlelace inserts are quite large. This makes the contrast with the brides along the neckline and outer edge fairly obvious.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Some small holes/pinholes in the PtdG mesh.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkles.

Starting Price: $350.00 Buy-it-Now or Make Offer
Auction ends: September 8, 2015 1:03 AM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller atelier1900, Rhône-Alpes, France
Comments: A border of Brussels bobbin and needlelace applique on machine net. Excellent design and technique – note the buttonholed rings around the centers of the needle-made flowers. That is also used in Point de Gaze.  The design is delicate with beautifully worked bobbinlace, incorporating some picoted bride fillings giving relief to the lower edge.  Looks like there’s some curious needle-made ground used as a filling in some of the bobbinlace, which has been further embroidered with raised dots.
A higher-end market piece.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  late 19th or early 20th c.  The design has a kind of Art Nouveau feel to it.
Condition:
Modifications: I think both ends are cut.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: Some soft creasing, minor.

Starting Price: $180.00 Buy-it-Now or Make Offer
Auction ends: September 8, 2015 1:51 AM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller poizay37, La Roche Clermault, France
Comments: A handkerchief of Brussels bobbinlace applique on machine net. Rather elaborate whitework embroidery monogram in one corner of the cloth.   The bobbinlace motifs are small and delicately worked in a typical romantic design, not very elaborate. There are areas of tulle that could have been cut away under some flowers. The attachment to the center cloth looks a little clumsy.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Pinholes throughout the tulle.  Edges a little frayed.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: Light wrinkling in the cloth.

Offered by: Ebay seller lula965, Benyamina, Spain
Comments: Fan of Brussels bobbin and needlelace applique on machine net. A high-end market piece with excellent design and technique. No raised work in the needlelace, and note the elegance of the needle-made flowers. The design is windswept flower and leaves, not crowded.  Inlaid mother of pearl sticks attest to the quality of the lace.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 2nd half 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Seven broken and repaired sticks. Occasional pinhole in the tulle.
Soilage:  Lace a little stained where glued to sticks.

Offered by: Ebay seller greatlace, Palm Beach, Florida, United States
Comments: A short border of Point de Paris. The rather regimented design reminds me of work designed under the auspices of the Belgian Relief Committee during WWI, although it could have been made around that time. Design is a bit regimented.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  It has the look of designs produced in the WWI period.
Condition:
Modifications: Cut both ends.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: Vertical fold creases.

Size: 5.5″ diameter
Starting Price: $49.99
Auction ends: September 8, 2015 6 PM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller winter-garden, West Palm Beach, Florida, United States
Comments: It’s rare to see Point de Gaze used in table linens, but here are 6 PtdG doilies. No raised work, and the design looks a little like a snowflake.  Just a few raised rings used as decorative ‘mode’ fillings. Not the greatest Point de Gaze, but unusual.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  Early 20th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Seller notes one pinhole.
Soilage: Seller notes one light spot.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkles.

Comments: Decorated antique Honiton bobbins are quite rare (see the amazing set noted on LaceNews at http://tinyurl.com/mnuje3v). In the present set, some are inscribed some painted and stained with aqua fortis.  It’s a pretty remarkable set, wound with what looks like early thread.
Provenance: None cited.

Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Just a little worn.
Soilage: Nothing unexpected.
Finish: Worn, these have been used.

Starting Price: 20.00 EUR
Auction ends: September 10, 2015 11:02 AM PDT
Offered by: Ebay seller artemis89, auxerre, France
Comments: Square mesh Valenciennes border – the seller has two more of the same border listed (#171918526048 – 5 meters, #171918529528 – 13.2 meters). It’s a reasonably wide piece, good design, short repeat. In short, long pieces of Val with a good design. Sometimes in pieces like this the technique looks a little rushed, and you can see a little of that here.  Clothwork is a bit transparent.  Likely a Belgian product.
Provenance: None cited.
Date:  4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Seller cites a few small spots.
Finish: Light vertical fold creases.

Comments: A short section of a Brussels bobbinlace flounce, applique on machine net.
