Starting Price: $97.00
Auction ends: January 31, 2016, 8:59 AM PST
Offered by: Ebay seller lacemerchant, Whiting, Indiana, United States
Comments: An interesting length of bobbinlace applique on droschel ground. It very well could be an English piece given the nature of the fillings (no needlelace, woven bobbinlace tallies). This design is very sparse. A thin lower border with small regions of fillings, and tiny sprigs used as esprits.  This extreme simplicity is a bit unusual.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 4th quarter 18th c.
Condition:
Modifications: Seams 15″ from one end, 28″ from other end.  The zigzag patter looks original. Cut both ends, engrelure added.

Comments: A border of square-mesh Valenciennes. Excellent technique, tightly woven. It has the simple floral design typical of the 2nd half of the 19th c. This type of lace was extensively used to border linens, handkerchiefs, nightwear, and simple white garments.

Starting Price: £72.00
Auction ends: January 31, 2016, 9:17 AM PST
Offered by: Ebay seller winterwonderlandfairy, london, United Kingdom
Comments: A Maltese silk vest. Unmodified costume pieces of Maltese are a little rare. This one has an alternating floral/cross medallion border all the way around. The almost ‘patchwork’ pattern of the inner textile is interrupted by a large cross and crown center back.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 1st half 20th c. The pointed front ends may put it a little earlier, but the whole general form I think is early 20th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Break to center back top medallion.
Soilage: Staining near front lower armholes.  Occasional mark elsewhere.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkles.

Starting Price: £22.00
Auction ends: January 31, 2016, 10:16 AM PST
Offered by: Ebay seller sallie_ead, Swindon, Wiltshire, United Kingdom
Comments: An Irish Crochet collar.  The motifs are firmly worked with some raised ring centers. Looks like crocheted ring picots on the mesh. Lots of shamrocks in a 3-lobed pinwheel, the other two flower motifs are more isolated.  Good example of the type.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Break along the neckline.
Soilage: Looks clean.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkles.

Comments: An Brussels Duchesse collar with raised petal roses in the Point de Gaze inserts.  Good floral work in the bobbinlace, and some raised work against halfstitch in the strapwork. Design a bit crowded, but it comes off quite well.

Comments: A framed fan of Carrickmacross applique on machine net. Fans of Carrickmacross are a bit rare. I’ve seen 6 others since I’ve started doing the Ebay Alerts, and none as detailed as this one.  The small motifs are beautifully worked, and there is a little bride work, and some nice running stitch fillings.

Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos. Sticks look good.
Soilage: Occasional small stain where attached to sticks.

Comments: A lappet scarf of Honiton guipure. Snails/slugs style, but it’s not a typical piece in several ways.  The form is unusual for Honiton guipure. The motifs seem t be variations of more traditional ones, and note the unusual scallops around the edges.  Overall this piece has quite an interesting presence.
