The laces run from lots 91 to 269. There are a number of ‘early laces’ (before the 18th c), lots 119 to 141.  18th c laces go from lots 142 to 170.  Then comes a section of lace edge and whitework handkerchiefs.  19th century laces start at lot 198 to the end. These start off with two beautiful Blonde de Caen shawls.  Here’s a few that caught my eye:

Lot 134  early Venetian needlelaces
Lot 135  Punto Neve – Point de Neige border.
Lot 138  An elaborate figural Milan panel, 3.3 m x 0.8 m
Lot 139  Alb set of Flemish bobbinlace
Lot 147  Wide, long flounce of Brussels bobbinlace with bride ground
Lot 149  Very decorative Mechlin lappets with partridge eye ground
Lot 151  Valenciennes lappets with 5-hole ground
Lot 155  Brussels bobbinlace with droschel ground, long flounce
Lot 165  Argentan dress pannel, called a ‘quille’.
Lots 198, 200 and 201  Blonde de Caen rectangular shawls
Lot 209  Spectacular flounce of Ombre Chantilly, reputed ordered by Empress Eugenie from LeFebure
Lot 232  Valenciennes de Gand flounce
Lot 264  A selection of Beveren laces

If you wish to purchase any of the lace and cannot come to Paris, there are three ways to do so.

Online bidding with Drouot Live:
If you want to bid by yourself you will have to create an account. Then you will be able to follow the sale with a real time viewing of the auction directly from your computer. You can bid by clicking the appropriate bidding price when the auctioneer reaches the lot you are interested in. If you wish to register for the auction please follow the instructions at http://tinyurl.com/zl5beow to create a Drouot Live Account. You must also register for this specific auction before 9:00 AM on April 21st – go to http://tinyurl.com/z4abdwb and find the auction on the page for April 21st.
The view on your computer has a few seconds delay but the auctioneer is used to it and he will wait a few second when somebody is bidding through the net. This works well as long as the internet equipment has no connection troubles.

Phone bidding:
Otherwise, you can ask to be called when the auctioneer is approaching the particular lot number. A member of the staff will phone you a few minutes before the item will be on sale and you can instruct him to bid on you behalf, in real time.  Both of these possibilities are free of charge and will not have any impact to the final hammer price.

Absentee Bid:
You can also submit an Absentee Bid Form (an order bid) and the auction house will execute it by bidding for you behalf until the price has reached your nominated amount. If bidding doesn’t reach this amount, you win the item for the price at which the bidding ceased. If you are the winner, a member of the staff will send you by email your final invoice. We will send your item to the appropriate postal address as soon as we will get your payment.

The starting price for each lot is usually 10% to 20% less than the estimated price. If you are the only buyer you can get the item for a lower price then expected. Please note, there is a buyer’s premium on top of the hammer price.

Buyer’s Premium:  26.4% = 22% plus VAT of 20%
TTC (toutes taxe comprises) – check on this before the auction.
Payment due:  Expected almost immediately after the auction, cash in euros, pre-approved cheque or credit card.
