This is part of the Festes de Sant Joan which runs from June 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 23 and 24. It also includes the Exposició de manualitats-labors i “bolillos”, an exhibition of local lacework, and I think it’s the 3rd edition of that event. Barri de Ferreries-Sant Vicent is a neighborhood of the city of Tortosa, which is the capital of the Baix Ebra region of Tarragona, Catalonia.

The purpose of introducing a system of grant(s) is to enable young lacemakers, to achieve success in their chosen field of lace study and to further the knowledge and development of lace making.
Two of OIDFA’s aims are to:
OIDFA invites applications from young lacemakers, aged 18-30 years by 31 July every congress year (2014, 2016, 2018 etc.) who are interested in carrying out an in-depth research into any aspect of lace making such as lace history, lace traditions, lace techniques (traditional and contemporary), a comparative study of one type of lace, lace design by traditional methods or computer generation and lace in paintings etc. OIDFA wishes to support those who will take our knowledge of lace forward, finding new and exciting information or ideas of how it has been previously applied or may be applied in the future.
We look forward to receiving applications from individuals, a member of a lace school or someone currently studying lace in higher education. The closing date for applications is March 31st every congress year.
Conditions:
6. The results of the study/research must be in English or French (the two official languages of OIDFA).
7. The successful applicant will be required to sign an Agreement to write for the OIDFA Bulletin, either as a series of articles or as a major article at the end of the specified grant period.
8. Copyright of the Bulletin articles is retained by the author.
9. The grant will be paid by installments, with receipts being required for major expenditure. The final installment will only be paid on receipt of items 6 and 7 above.
10. The grant will be awarded by a panel of maximum 3 persons, selected from the AC & EC. All decisions of the panel will be documented and archived.
11. One member of the panel will be the liaison/mentor for the recipient; they will annually inform the AC, EC and panel of the recipient’s progress.
12. If no suitable application is received, the grant may remain in the general account and be deferred to the following biennial selection.
13. Successful applicants may not be eligible for the grant in subsequent years.

Lace Submission Deadline: The lace entry should reach the committee between March 1 and April 30, 2015 (send to Irena Benedičič at the above address). A color photograph of the lace, listing the title, artist’s name and address, and display details (like what way is ‘up’) must be included for identification purposes. All mailing costs and insurance costs are to be paid by the participant.
Entries can be collected between 17:00 and 18:00 on Sunday, June 26, 2016 upon production of identification and a photograph similar to the one sent on submission.
This contest is associated with the biennial OIDFA conference, which will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2016. The theme of the conference is ‘Youth’, which celebrates the extensive training of young lacemakers in Slovenia.
