Comments: This is a Venise tablecloth of the type often associated with Chinese work – and very unfortunately, such an association is uniformly assigned poor quality. Is this warranted? Today our actual knowledge of Chinese lace is virtually nonexistent. This area of research has great potential, and LaceNews will have more on Chinese lace in the future.

Comments: The piece looks fine, however photos are not great. In this kind of lace it is difficult to tell if any modification has been made – often the top is cut away. Condition looks good.

Comments: Looks like a good piece in excellent condition. Seller has it labeled as Brabant, but it looks finer than things one usually sees associated with that region. I’m guessing that the picoted edge is a later addition – you see this modification sometimes done in the 19th century. This seller has a few other nice items, which for one reason or another I’m not listing here. But you should take a look.
