Comments: Obviously not a fan, but a good border of Milanese, certainly could be 18th c. The design is largely modulated tape lace with simple leaves and 4-5 petaled flowers.  Ocassional simple filling. Plaited 5-hole ground. The design seems intact, not sure about the bottom border. The piece is evenly worked and in good condition, seller cites minor openings and an age spot. Wish there were more of it.

Comments: A very unusual pair of long ‘gloves’ of Brussels bobbinlace application on machine net. They look original, and in very good condition. Comments: I think this is a 17th c English needlelace, not Italian. The early English needlelaces used a knotted stitch, not a looped stitch, which is something really not recognized. It’s worth a paper at the next American Textile Society conference.  The graininess of this piece is typical of how that stitch lays. I’m also thinking some of it was photographed from the wrong side.  Good condition considering the age.

Comments: Ex. coll. Pat Earnshaw. A Chantilly semi-circular hat veil.  I really like the attention the maker put into organizing the two different types of esprits to follow the oval pattern. And the edges are very well made. Overall this is a much better than average design for a hat veil. There are quite a few pinholes in the mesh, and a few small holes in the design. So condition is good, but the quality of the design makes up for a lot.

Comments: I like this narrow Point de Gaze edging because of the treatment of the lower edge. Rarely you see Point de Gaze where they dispense with the ground altogether, and make what almost looks like a guipure. You see hints of that here. There are a few holes and stains, especially in two areas.  Basically good for the most part.
