Offered by: Ebay seller things*most*delightful, Sacramento, California, United States
Comments: These two pieces are quite similar. The first is a table cover of plain-weave linen with a reticella insert and a Venise-type plaited bobbinlace border.    The second os a patterned linen cover divided into three parts. Each has a reticella border, and they are divided by an insert with a technique I don’t recognize. It looks like Reticella, but is not really integrated into the cut and drawn linen like the reticella is. I think it is a single base thread buttonholed over, but am not certain. It has a Schiffli look. The same technique is used for the Punto in Aria edging.
High quality imitations of early linens were done in Italy, although at this time it’s very difficult to attribute a specific origin.  Perhaps Aemilia Ars.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: If Aemilia Ars, 1898-1914
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: A few detached brides on both.
Soilage: :Seller cites ecru color, with faint storage marks on both.
Finish: Fold creases on the first one.

Comments: A runner and 12 placemats edged in Rosaline Perlé. I’m not sure if the perls are bobbin or needle-made, but I suspect needle. Excellent design and technique. Quite unusual to find Rosaline used in a large table linen set.
Seller says the set might be unused since it came in the original packaging.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: Early 20th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: :Seller cites faint dark vertical fold lines in four placemats. Also says Soaked in “Restoration”, hand laundered, very lightly starched. “Restoration” is a powdered soap.

Comments: A set of 8 placemats edged with Point de Paris lace, whitework embroidery and drawnwork in the cloth. Kind of a pottenkant design in the lace with some interesting filling stitches in the ‘pots’.

Comments: A pair of Irish Crochet cuffs. Interesting design with a lot of elements – heavy floral and brides above, very light almost ‘snowflakes’ in the scallops. Well done rose in the top center with a little raised work. Seller thinks they might be designed to sit at the elbow.

Comments: Two Rosaline collars.  The round collar has perls which look needle-made. The standing collar has no perls. Pieces like this are often paired with a flat collar or triangular dress insert. The standing collar has denser patterning, and no halfstitch shading. Halfstitch is extensively used in the round collar.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Seller cites occasional broken bride. Standing collar has a little fraying in places.
Soilage: :Seller cites antique white color on the round collar, pale ivory on the standing collar.

Size: not cited.
Starting Price: £15.00
Auction ends: December 28, 2016 11:48 AM PST.
Offered by: Ebay seller derbeatle, Cheltenham, United Kingdom
Comments: Two Honiton guipure collars and one cuff, they don’t match.  All snails/slugs style, and the middle one appears to have a heavy needle-made ground.  The work in the middle one is quite dense, and the trefoil leaves almost resemble Bruges work, but with no heavy gimp. The top one has picoted  plaited brides, brides in the cuff are plain.  All have good woven tally grid fillings. I especially like the rose/leaf combination in the cuff.   Altogether a nice set with varied styles.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Seller cites occasional broken bride.
Soilage: Look clean.
Finish: No obvious creasing or wrinkles.

http://tinyurl.com/hqd6z4j Antique Brussels Duchesse Bobbin Lace Stand Up Collar Excellent
Size: 50″ long, 6″ max width.
Starting Price: $145.00 Buy-it-Now or Make Offer
Auction ends: December 28, 2016 2:02 PM PST.
Offered by: Ebay seller twist-in-time, Pottstown, Pennsylvania, United States
Comments: A Duchesse de Bruges shawl collar with lappet ends. There’s a separate narrow collar slightly gathered to the neckline; might be cut to fit toward the front. Some raised work along edges, but mostly gimp.  Picoted irregular plaited brides, and the little circles in the brides remind me of Bruges patterning. For the greater part the motifs are not typical Duchesse. Single woven tallies are the only fillings, no needle-work that I can see.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Seller cites a few tan spots.
Finish: Back vertical fold line.

http://tinyurl.com/gsr3vm8 Vtg Antique Early Needle Lace Venetian Flat Point Coraline or de France C1700
Size: 2.25″ x 23″
Starting Price: $235.00
Auction ends: December 29, 2016 2:02 PM PST.
Offered by: Ebay seller twist-in-time, Pottstown, Pennsylvania, United States
Comments: There is no full picture of the whole piece.  Coraline or Point de France?  Hard to say, but Point de France does tend to have a hexagonal ground (note the unusual double picots). The swirling design of the clothwork perhaps doesn’t have the rigid symmetry of candelabra French designs which might mean Italian. The lower edge is quite elaborate, perhaps Italian. But we don’t have many documented Coraline examples, and those appear to be more sprawling in design  I think I’ll go with French on this one, but only about 60% sure.
Provenance: Ex. coll. Marian Powys
Date: 4th quarter 17th c.
Condition:
Modifications: One end is finished, can’t see the other end. Bobbin-made engrelure.
Damage: Nothing obvious from the photos.
Soilage: Seller cites a few tan spots.
Finish: No obvious creases or wrinkles.

Size: 12″ square
Starting Price: £4.99
Auction ends: December 29, 2016 10:10 PM PST.
Offered by: Ebay seller wattnotts, Derbyshire, United Kingdom
Comments: A Honiton handkerchief, snails/slugs style, hard to tell but I think the ground is a large hexagonal bobbin-made mesh. Thistle design in two corners. It looks like the photo has been taken from the back side.  The technique is a bit loose, with woven tally fillings. I especially like the ones used in the thistles.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Breaks in the mesh. A few pinholes in the center cloth.
Soilage: Some localized brown spots in the lace and cloth.
Finish: Horizontal and vertical fold creases.

Auction ends: December 29, 2016 11:54 PM PST.
Offered by: Ebay seller derbeatle, Cheltenham, United Kingdom
Comments: Three Beds collars The top two have something you see a lot of in beds, a patterned neckpiece with a separate edge frill.  In these two pieces the neckpieces are the same.  The bottom collar is made in one piece but still has the same two-part feel.  The designs are typical of what was done in the Armstrong workshop.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: 4th quarter 19th c.
Condition:
Modifications: None.
Damage: Seller says one has some broken brides but I’m having trouble telling which one.
Soilage: They all look clean.
Finish: No obvious creases or winkles.

Comments: A white silk Maltese lappet scarf. The center piece alternates Maltese Crosses and flowers.  Outer edge is a series of guipure leaves bordered with woven leaf ‘wheat ear’ pattern. Good design with scalloped border.
Provenance: Sourced in Scotland.
Date: 1st quarter 20th c.

Comments: A Brussels Duchesse fan with the bobbinlace a little on the Bruges side. A raised petal rose in the center Point de Gaze insert; side inserts are not raised. No raised work in the bobbinlace, and I don’t see any decorative filling stitches.  Inlaid Mother of Pearl sticks.
Provenance: None cited.
Date: ~1900.

Damage: One restored stick.  Hard to tell with the lace – the images won’t come up when I click them.
