Comments: An interesting construction using Italian figural bobbinlace. Probably from the Venetian area, perhaps Pellistrina? The St. Mark’s lion is an old Venetian symbol. The lion forms the lid of a box whose wire frame supports further bobbinlace around the edges. Brown discoloration overall, one broken bride, and the cloth in the bottom is a bit frayed. But overall good condition for an unusual item.

Comments: A square shawl of Honiton appliqued on machine net. The motifs are large and only a little on the snails/slugs side, but nicely done. Good tally fillings. Honiton applique normally uses a stronger white net with a wonderful drape, and this is a good example. The condition appears exceptional, seller cites 4 pinholes in the net and a little foxing.  Has a provenance, same family for three generations.  That may or may not take it back to the original owner, but even this much information is unusual.

Comments: A Brussels Duchesse shawl collar. The central Point de Gaze insert has a raised petal rose, flat work in the other inserts. I like the little bobbinlace flowers with the plaited edgings, haven’t seen that before. There are a few tiny holes in the Point de Gaze mesh and a few broken brides.  It does have a bit of a dusty, slightly wrinkled look, but that might just be the photography. I’m not sure of the exact color.  Basically good condition.

Comments: An impressive looking Irish Crochet collar. It almost looks like two collars joined together, but looking closely at the outside edge of the horseshoe inner piece, I think it’s original.  I love the juxtaposition of the large motifs and the inner regularity of the horseshoe pattern.  I think the picots are something like tightly bunched double crochet, not Clones knots, but it’s a bit hard to tell. Good raised work on the large motifs, and note there are a few needlelace stitches in the centers of the shamrocks. Which could mark this as an earlier piece. Overall very good condition, seller mentions only one area of age discoloration.

There’s a kat stitch ground above and point ground along the edge. So I don’t know where it comes from, but am tending a bit toward English.  You find these variations both in Bucks and Chantilly. A small, unusual piece in very good condition.
